Originating in the USA in the late 1800s, the denim jacket is one of those amazing pieces which has never fallen out of fashion. Whether in its classic blue ‘jeans’ form, or with added embellishments, a more cropped silhouette, or a choice of great colours and stripes, this iconic item has remained a firm fashion favourite.
Bye winter, hello spring!
“Its not quite time to store all those heavy layers away, and with this in mind, my first outfit suggestion pairs our dark wash denim jacket with a cosy gilet,” says Katie. “The jacket is light enough to be layered under the gilet when you’re venturing out for that early morning walk with your dog or leisurely hike in the woods in early spring. As the day, and season, heats up, it is easy to de-layer.”
Dress it up
Katie thinks our denim jackets are just as easily worn with dresses as trousers. She says: “As you know, Lands’ End loves pairing our best selling cardigans with our best fitting dresses. However, we all need a little change from time to time, and this lovely jacket is the perfect excuse. Pop a denim jacket on over your favourite dress to bring some casual newness to your dress assortment!”
A splash of colour
Spring is all about colour, and our denim jackets come in an array of colour and stripes too. “I chose this lovely Hedge Green for my next outfit. It is the new common neutral,” Katie tells us. “It can be worn with a variety of other shades, yet is capable of grounding an outfit too if you are branching into colour. I put it with our jeans of the same colour to create Lands’ End’s spring version of ‘double denim’!”
Work wardrobe refresh
For an easy office look, Katie makes this suggestion: “The denim jacket is a great jacket alternative for work, which can be dressed up or down according to your dress code. I paired this one with our floaty crepe trousers, a plain blouse, patterned scarf and these lovely suede mules for a smart/casual look.”
The perfect warm weather layer
“As spring turns into summer, it’s time to push those dark washes to the back of your wardrobe and bring out the lighter ones,” Katie says. “A pale blue denim jacket will go with so much, but my personal favourite is nautical stripes! I accessorised this outfit with this fun, floral tote bag for an effortlessly stylish look that will take you from weekend days out, to shopping trips to the local farmers’ market.”
