The iconic Drifter Sweater

We take a closer look at what it is that makes our Drifter a classic. It's all in the detail: from fit to fabric; cables to crosshatch.

Our Drifter sweater has been a firm favourite for as long as we can remember. Not to boast (okay, maybe a little), but it’s a style that transcends trends. After all, when DON’T you need a beautifully fitting, long-lasting, sumptuously soft sweater? We’ve added the iconic cables along the way, but the construction is just the same now as when we first introduced it. This is a jumper that you won’t just enjoy for a little while, but for years to come.

But how DO we make them so covetable? Well, we’ve dismantled one of our Drifter Cable Crew Necks, piece by piece, so you can see for yourself the level of detail and dedication that goes into it. That way you don’t have to take our word for it…

The neckline:
A classic crew neck works so well on its own or layered over a shirt; and the ribbed neckline sits flat for a neat fit.

 The yarn:
The long-staple combed cotton we use retains colour better than regular cottons so your vibrant green Drifter will always be just that.

The fit:
The word ‘classic’ may seem overused but in this instance, it’s spot on. Not too tight, not too baggy, it’s fully-fashioned to fit you perfectly from day one.

 The weight:
Want to feel comfy whether you’re indoors or bundled up in a coat outside? That’s what we thought! So we use a mid-weight fabric that feels substantial & warm, but never bulky.

The texture:
It’s all about the cables! Invitingly soft and undeniably pretty, our detailed patterns are what set them apart from other cable knitted jumpers.

Drifter Sweater Revealed

And because we don’t always have to have the final say, we’ll let one of our customers do just that: “This is the jumper I’ve been waiting for. I love the jewel colours, the quality, the slim fit and the fact that it is not too short… it’s so flattering. I started out with the amazing yellow (I’ve been looking for a true yellow like this for a long time) and will be going on to other colours.”
